Disney's Beauty and the Beast the Musical

Disney's Beauty and the Beast the Musical Friday July 2, 2010

Summertime is a great time to bring a little culture into kids' lives. There's no need to worry about getting up for school in the morning, and you can choose from a wealth of artsy, kid-friendly shows and exhibits. Shows that incorporate kids' favorite characters and familiar songs offer a great opportunity to expose children of all ages to the arts. Kids are excited to see the characters and hear the songs, which lengthens the attention span, and since there will be a lot of other children in the audience, it also reduces the stress on mom and dad who are desperately hoping not to have to leave with a screaming kid in the middle of the show.

We are going to catch Disney's Beauty and the Beast musical this month at the AT&T Performing Arts Center's Winspear Opera House in Dallas (the show runs there July 13 through July 25, 2010, but if you don't live near Dallas, check the tour schedule to find out when it will be in a city near you!). I am really glad we are going to be able to take our daughters to this musical. My husband and I saw Wicked a few weeks ago, and we really regretted not taking our oldest daughter. To Beauty and the Beast, though, we are going to brave it with all the kids. I will be writing a follow-up on how that goes.

Beauty and the Beast Diamond

This musical is especially timely since Disney will be releasing the Beauty and the Beast Diamond Edition on DVD and Blu-ray this fall, and considering how great the Snow White Diamond Edition was, I can't wait to see what the second Diamond Edition release will hold. Beauty and the Beast was a landmark animated movie beloved by many, and all things Belle and Beastly will be coming back this fall at the Disney store just in time for the holidays.
