My daughter was sick the other day, so we put on a show for her to watch. Meanwhile, mommy was helping big sister in the office clear on the other side of the house. Apparently, sicky wanted to start a new show, but she accidentally changed the receiver to Blu-ray, which of course, cut the sound from the TV. So what does she do? Keep turning up the volume! She turned it up all the way, and then proceeded to walk to the receiver and start turning knobs.
When the output changed to FM radio, you can guess what happened. The fuzz of the radio (which was not turned to a station, thank goodness) flooded the house like a freight train. Way over on the other side of the house, I had to cover my ears and run for the living room. I have never had my ears ache for so long after hearing a loud noise, so I can't imagine what the kids' ears must have felt like. I don't think any of them will be messing too much with the TV volume any time soon, but just in case, we had to have Remote 101 and then reiterate that if the sound cuts out, turning up the volume is what NOT to do.
