March Madness Hits Home

Every year, my husband's family does the March Madness picks thing, with the winner getting some random gift card. Mostly, I think they just do it for the fun of  a little friendly family competition, especially since some of them don't even follow college basketball. This year, though, the kids have gotten involved. All the cousins -- ages 3-8 -- have made picks, mostly based on which team name they like the best.

Suddenly, we have a house full of screaming, chanting, cheering, foot stomping sports fans. Who would have thought that  3, 5, and 8 year-old little girls could sit through an entire basketball game? There is one good thing that is coming out of this, though. So many wins and losses by different family members in a short period of time has thickened their skin as far as losing goes. Our daughter who usually goes into an all out tantrum losing a "first one to the car" race has just been knocked out of the running for winning, but she said it was okay, as long as she could have a "certificate" for playing.
