The list of merchandise featuring Nick characters is long and varied, and it continues to grow. Various new products and games are set to come out in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Dora the Explorer, for example, and one of those new products is a cookbook for kids. Nickelodeon Consumer Products (NCP) and Wiley have announced Dora and Diego Let's Cook. The cook book features 50 fun recipes, helpful tips, and Spanish phrases and focuses on safety in the kitchen and healthy eating. Dora and Diego Let's Cook is set to hit bookshelves this August at a price of $16.95. A SpongeBob cookbook is also set to follow in fall, 2011.
I like the idea of a product line that actually gets kids away from the TV or video games and teaches practical, hands-on skills in a fun way. We have a Winnie the Pooh cookbook at our house, and while the recipes aren't stellar, my kids absolutely love it. They feel so big being able to look up recipes themselves and help make them. If the recipes in the new Dora book are good, I can see this product being a top holiday gift pick for anyone with preschoolers.
