It may be summertime, but there are at least 15 kids who are probably not going to experience that traditional summer slip in academics. 15 or so of the nation's brightest 10-12 year-olds will compete during Kids Week on Jeapardy!. 2010 K ids Week episodes will air Monday, July 5, through Friday, July 9 (check local listings for times).
We've watched some of Kids Week in years past, and the contestants certainly are fun to watch and inspiring. Although, I am so curious about the road these kids have taken to get where they are. To have that kind of knowledge in their little heads at such a young age! I am hoping the Jeopardy! website will post a little info about the kids and how much they have to study each day. Do they have personal tutors? Do they travel often? Private schools? I am so fascinated, but I doubt we'll get that much information.
According to Jeopardy!, the winner of each game will receive a minimum guarantee of $15,000 as well as a family vacation to one of five exotic locales, courtesy of Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic. The winners will either travel to Arctic Norway to search for polar bears, explore the rainforests of Costa Rica and the Panama Canal, get close to whales and dolphins in Mexico's Baja Peninsula, explore the wonders and wilderness of Alaska, or discover the rich natural history of the Galapagos Islands. Wow, which one would you choose?
