Will Fancy Nancy Ever Become a Real TV Star?

Will Fancy Nancy Ever Become a Real TV Star? Saturday October 2, 2010

As I was thinking today about the Fancy Nancy birthday party I'm going to do for my daughter early next year, it occurred to me that little miss Fancy Nancy has taken the children's literature world by storm. I remember buying the first Fancy Nancy book for a birthday present for a 4-year-old little girl a few years ago. Now, there are a plethora of Fancy Nancy books available , not to mention dress-up clothes, accessories and more. Many other popular children's book stars have turned TV celebs -- Olivia, Curious George, and Arthur to name a few -- so I am going to make a prediction that Fancy Nancy will get to be a real TV star someday as well. Little girls would absolutely go crazy over such a show, and the vocabulary element that is already a signature part of the books would tie in for a great educational show for preschoolers.

So, what do you think? Anyone else on board for a Fancy Nancy TV show? I wonder which network would carry it? Can you imagine Fancy Nancy Disneyfied? Nickelodeon did snatch up Olivia, so that's a possibility, but PBS is also likely to base a new TV show on a popular book character. Anyway, little girls just adore her, and a Fancy Nancy show would be huge. I can't imagine it not happening.
