Looking to come in from the cold this weekend and curl up with a good family flick? If you have digital cable, you can get Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole On Demand, and this weekend it's on sale for only $2.99. We have U-verse, so it doesn't appear that our family could take advantage of the sale since U-verse doesn't use the same on demand provider. Still, I thought I would pass the deal along.
If you have kids around the ages of 9-12, The Guardians of Ga'Hoole book series is very popular for kids in this age group, and reading the books adds so much more to the movie experience. There is just not time in a movie format to cover all the background and details of the story. The movie actually covers events from the first three books in the series, and that is a lot of terrain to lay out in less than two hours. The book contains many different themes and topics that create great discussion topics for kids and families. In fact, Scholastic has a great Discussion Guide for The Guardians of Ga'Hoole containing info about the author, book summaries, and discussion questions and activities.
