2010 Sales Reflect Changes in Movie Purchases

2010 Sales Reflect Changes in Movie Purchases Sunday December 26, 2010

DVD enjoyed a solid run as a movie format, but it seems it's days are numbered. With the emergence of streaming video in numerous formats and from several competitors, DVD sales saw a slump this year, while the Wall Street Journal reports that, "Sales of Blu-ray movies were up 75% year-to-year at the start of the holiday shopping season."

In the final days of 2010, though, whatever your preffered format for an actual physical copy of your favorite movies, you can probably find it on sale. According to the associated press, retailers are gunning to keep the holiday bustle alive with after Christmas sales including deals on both DVDs and Blu-rays. So, if you got a new Blu-ray player for Christmas, now is a great time to stock up on movies.
