With the opening of a new dine-in movie theater in our area of Texas, at the AMC GRAPEVINE MILLS 30, I got to thinking about the concept of dine-in movies. Thus far, we only do dine-in movies when my husband and I have the rare opportunity for a date night, but not enough time for dinner and a movie. Dine-in movies are a little expensive when you have to pay for the movie tickets plus meals for five people, so we don't do dine-in with the kids very often.
I am excited about the new theater opening, because I think this niche needs a little competition. Better to eat a decent meal while watching a movie than to load up on candy and popcorn, I say. Some good, healthy and fresh food would be a plus, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. With good food, a reasonable price, and a comfortable atmosphere, I think the dine-in concept would take off. Though eating while watching TV and movies is not generally a healthy practice, it is a fun treat every once in a while. Somehow, eating while watching a movie makes it all the more enjoyable.
